Microsoft Copilot, formerly Bing Chat, has been deployed site-wide as a generative AI accessible by all Penn State faculty, staff and students. With new advancements in AI happening faster than ever before, the Penn State community will strive to remain on the cutting edge of new technologies especially as they pertain to education. Microsoft Copilot, which exists in the same category of AI as ChatGPT or DALL-E, is a powerful tool for educators and students alike. Whether it is being used for lesson planning, brainstorming, personalized learning, or simply as a resource for the rapid answering of questions Copilot is a valuable tool for increasing the efficiency of workflow. Over the coming months, the Penn State community will find new and interesting ways to incorporate Microsoft Copilot into their daily routine.
As with all new technology, generative AI is still being developed and modified as more is understood about its limitations. As a result, it should be thoroughly checked for accuracy, especially in an educational setting.
